Mollie Chen spent last weekend in (pre-Olympic) Vancouver, where she ate and drank her way through the city--and found this cool new shop:
"Lynn Steven is a
brand-new boutique in the hipster-happy Gastown neighborhood. My friend and I wandered in because we were curious about the strange structure in the middle of the shop; it turned out to be a circular dressing room constructed entirely from used paperbacks. (It is the work of local architectural firm
McFarlane Green Biggar, which is known for its modern designs and sustainable philosophy.) Despite its wee size, owner
Nicole Dennis Durnin has packed her store with covetable items by brands like
Lauren Moshi and
Rory Beca. I picked up a pretty silk blouse by
Gemma, but now that I'm back in New York I wish I'd sprung for the retro ski hat by Vancouver's own
Granted Clothing. Next time."
Great blog post on one of our favorite Gastown retailers, Lynn Stevens.
