James Bond's Aston Martin Up for Auction

ts_bond1_100913.jpg

Sitting in Sotheby's New York location today through September 17 is arguably the coolest, most famous car in the world: the 1964 Aston Martin DB5, as driven by Sean Connery in the Bond flicks Goldfinger and Thunderball. Next stop: RM Auctions annual Automobiles of London event at the Battersea Evolution on October 27. There, "it is expected to fetch $5 million plus," RM told us. If it does, it'll become one of the most expensive film vehicles ever sold at an auction.

The DB5 will include Goldfinger's original gadgetry—from the bulletproof shield to the removable roof panel and nail spreader that aided in Bond's victory, all controlled from factory-installed switches in the center armrest.

For collectors unable to attend the event in person, RM Auctions will live-stream, and remote options—including absentee and telephone, and online and iPhone bidding—are available.
